You may think this all looks linear
But it is not
The frozen sunlight in straight rays
Spearing down from clouds
Into the tender earth
The clouds are rounded
As is the landscape
Even the light
As bold and linear as it seems
Is bent and curved by
Gravity we cannot see
No straight lines
The road, the path
The uncharted way
All bent by our gravity
Into mysterious swirls of life
That lead, however curved

Have a lot in common
The feverish prelude
The rush to release
That which burns within
The strange feeling of relief
Even as one trembles at the power
The tangy quality of the product
The colorful quality
Of the outpouring
The feeble protestations of "Oh Gawd
I don't wanna do that again"
Yet knowing that you must

I got better, that's the point,
Never mind the aches,
In all my joints,
Nor the fever that left me
Flat on the floor,
Moaning and groaning,
By the bathroom door,
Forget the uprush,
Of vomited slime,
Because I recovered
— this time.

Time is the enemy
And must be killed
Ignoring does not work
Time merely eats at the roots
Of all we love
Or try not to love
Pain does not work
It just makes Time seem longer
Joy compresses Time
Durations are shorter
But Time rolls on
Buoyed by the illusion of goodness
Sleep comes close
To killing time
So much is gone
When we awaken
But we do inevitably awaken
Into the uncaring arms of Time
Killing Time is a suicide mission
Time dies with us
The curse passed on
To those who survive
