I can't do justice to haiku.
I can't do justice to haiku. I wish I could. I have a friend who writes Americanized haiku that pack an amazing amount of emotional content.
I like yours though I had to look up shakuhachi. I'm listening to one now on Wikipedia. It puts me in mind of the background music for japanese folk stories that were read on tv when I was a child, probably on PBS.

shakuhachi
The depth of the music that was being played in the piece I was listening to was striking. It was a modern composition played on traditional shakuhachi instruments, about Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I can't remember the name of the composer. I like haiku because of its very density, and because adhering to the strict syllabic form (at least in the American version) is a good discipline.
