Simple Poem of Longing

I will write a poem
While I'm waiting for you to come home
It was a difficult day
But I am waiting up for you anyway
Because your day too was tough
And that is reason enough
It's late my love
Come home my love
Get in your car and drive
I am waiting for you to arrive.

I wanted to write a rhyming poem that didn't feel like a singsong nursery rhyme. I guess it is all in how you read it. I like the sense of urgency in the 7th and 8th line.
