Her Death

My jealous grief brooks no kindness
From family friends or strangers
I stand carefully quietly alone
With no wish to slow or speed time
Since hours and days mean so little
With this interminable loss
I could neither hide nor fully enter

DREAM WORLD

We want the world of dreams
To be always in love
But not the world that
Muddies the feet
And clouds the eye
With desire
(Even of dreams)
A world salted with
Brief glimpses of glory
Peppered with infinite perception
Dance of light and photons and
Atoms
And infinitely down
And infinitely up
Which we paint with dreams
Thinking it is real

WHEN I WISH UPON A STAR

When I wish upon a star
It doesn't get me very far
Instead of feeding sand to fishes
Perhaps I'll wish for different wishes
Instead of warmth, respect and love
I think I'll wish for push and shove
I'll wish for cruelty and warfare
Instead of dreamy, hippie starfare
Ask that star for idiot drivers
For tailgaters and soulless strivers
For movies fraught with huge explosions
For dying frogs and soil erosions
For inequality and greed
And piss on all of those in need
Then I'll get my wishes granted
Instead of all that love I've ranted
I'll drown my angels at the bar
And wish upon that goddam star

LAST WISHES

I wish I had done better
I wish I had gotten more love
For I had much to give
I wish I had fit in better
Wish that I had been handsome
Blonde, confident to the point
Of not caring
I wish to be burned
This empty house reduced to ashes
After I have moved on
I wish to go quietly
I wish for this tired soul
A deep and dreamless
Darkness

Just Tired

Her weariness
An element of her
Wardrobe
Downcast eyes
The end of love
Leaves ghosts
In secret corners
Bedroom whispers
She almost hears
Unable to sleep
Through any night
