As words’ truth
Exaggerate
Foster unease
Eyes up away
As if truth is
Distant
Over there
Unspoken
Accessible
Only to
Cognoscenti
Yet we talk
On and on
Assume meaning
Assume fidelity
To this hour’s
Inconclusive
Outcome of
Shadowed vowels
Quivering consonants
Phonetic tremors
In Eden’s garden
The serpent’s tongue
Entices Eve
Adam acquiesces
Prefers mortality
To forever alone
